Lifeline Northern Beaches is part of the national Lifeline network. The primary purpose is to provide quality telephone and face to face support to assist people through crisis situations.
Lifeline Northern Beaches has proudly been serving their local community for 50 years. The head office is located in Balgowlah, NSW and they have a footprint spread from Manly to Avalon with a small number of employees supported by up to 700 volunteers.
Issue Faced
Lifeline Northern Beaches do not have a full time People and Culture / Human Resources support, and with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer consumed with running the operation, there was not the time to address the people management side of the organisation, which was identified in an external report.
Being a Not for Profit, budget was a key factor in obtaining HR support as they could not afford a full time HR person, nor did they have the work for one.
Solution
Lifeline Northern Beaches engaged The People Scene with our HR in a Box solution for between two and three days a quarter to deliver the people needs of the organisation cost effectively for the organisation. This has provided LLNB with a full HR service, undertaking the following key activities that were previously unattended:
Outcome
The LLNB Board, CEO and COO now have full confidence in the People and Culture function that supports the organisation as the processes are compliant and well structured. The management team have the support that they need and the employees and volunteers have an escalation point that is not their direct manager, allowing for sensitive matters to be resolved in a timely manner and let Lifeline Northern Beaches to focus on their sole and very important purpose – Suicide Prevention.

“We engaged Claire from The People Scene around 12 months ago. In that time Claire has made a significant difference in terms of our HR accountability and credibility both from an internal and external perspective and has allowed us to focus more on running the operation enabling us to focus on what we do best. With The People Scene engaged I can have confidence that our HR framework is now being attended to with nothing falling through the cracks”. |
